BRC consists of the main camping area, formed by a semicircle of annular (number) and radial (letter) streets, and an “open playa”, reserved for interactive art. The Bureau of Land Management establishes a buffer zone on the playa outside the trash fence. No camping is allowed in this area. Explore the 2026 Black Rock City plan. You will receive the BRC Art Map & Guide at the Greeters’ station.

Plazas

Plazas are located at 3:00, 4:30, 6:00, 7:30 and 9:00 on B & G streets. These are mini civic centers and public gathering spaces with art installations, encircled by creative and inviting theme camps and service camps. Emergency Services with first aid are located behind the plazas at 3:00 & C, 9:00 & C. Arctica ice sales are stationed at 3:00 & G Plaza, Center Camp Plaza at 6:15 & B, and 9:00 & G Plaza.

Center Camp Plaza & The Canopy

The Center Camp Plaza and its surrounding neighborhood form a living axis mundi within Black Rock City — a place where paths cross, conversations begin, and community gathers. Encircling the plaza, a ring of camps offers hands-on exhibitions, eccentric innovations, and immersive experiences that invite curiosity, play, and participation. From the Esplanade, installation art at the keyhole greets you on your path to the heart of the city.

At the center of it all, The Canopy stretches across an acre of space, a shaded pavilion pulsing with life throughout the week. Here you will encounter performances of all kinds, music and circus acts, surreal salons, interactive art, brewed and boozy delights, and playful gatherings.

Open 24 hours a day throughout Burn Week, The Canopy remains one of the city’s natural meeting points — a central place where friends reconnect, strangers become collaborators, and new adventures begin. Step into its orbit and follow the threads of conversation, creativity, and discovery that radiate back outward into Black Rock City.

Open Camping

Open camping is easy and located throughout many blocks between H and K Streets. Open campers scope out open space and can claim it. You should share the space with other open campers who arrive later and negotiate available space together.

Double-check that the blocks are not flagged out for placed camps, which is delineated by blue survey flags. If you plan to camp in open camping, be sure to camp outside the blue-flagged zones, or you may be asked to relocate.

Open campers who arrive during Build Week are not permitted to land-grab large swaths of space for friends arriving later who do not have early access, and must provide their Setup Access Pass (SAP) when requested.

If you need assistance finding open camping space, stop by Placement Headquarters at Esplanade & 5:45. Check out the General BRC Camping Info page to learn more about how to camp in BRC.

Walk-in Camping

A large area past K Street between 2:00 and 5:00 is reserved for walk-in camping. Camp without cars! No vehicles or RVs are allowed. You must park your vehicle along K Street and carry your belongings to your chosen spot. The sheer difficulty of this exercise keeps Walk-In Camping sparsely populated, and your efforts will be rewarded with a sense of solitude unavailable in other parts of the city.

Placement & Reserved Camping

If you’d like to receive a reserved camping spot for your camp, you’ll need to learn the placement process and submit the Placed Camp Questionnaire before the deadlines in March/April. You can also inquire if they can squeeze you in after these deadlines by emailing placement@burningman.org. Check out the Placement Process & Timeline page to learn about how to be selected for placement. You can find Placement Headquarters at Esplanade & 5:45.

Porta-Potties

Banks of porta-potties can be found throughout the city on radial streets on the blocks between C & D and G & H. The exceptions to this are 3:00/9:00, which have banks on D, and 3:00/6:00/9:00 with banks between H & I. There are also banks on the open playa on either side of the Man along 3:00 and 9:00, and out by the Temple. There are some potty banks in deep playa as well. To help you find potties in your time of need, they are marked by solar-powered blue lights above the banks.

Box Office

The Box Office is open 24 hours a day during the event and is located just outside BRC’s Main Gate. Tickets held for Will Call pick-up can be retrieved any time of day or night, from Monday, August 24, 2026, at 12 pm (noon) PT to 12 pm (noon) on Saturday, September 5, 2026. If you are arriving before the event officially begins at 12:01 am Sunday, August 30, 2026, you will need a valid Set-up Access Pass (SAP).

Tickets requiring payment can be purchased with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay, provided it is utilizing one of the card types previously listed (no cash!). All Gate lanes will get you access to the Box Office parking lot, where you can retrieve your ticket.

You cannot walk or bike to the Main Gate Box Office from Black Rock City. It is only accessible by motor vehicle when entering the city via Gate Road. If you need to visit the Box Office during the event, go to the Airport Box Office located at the end of 5:00 street. The Airport Box Office is open from 8 am – 7 pm, and functions exactly the same as the main Gate Box Office.
