BRC consists of the main camping area formed by a series of concentric and radial streets, and an “open playa” reserved for art installations. BLM establishes a buffer zone on the playa around the event site — no camping is allowed in this area. The 2025 Black Rock City plan is available here. You will receive the BRC Map & Guide at the Greeters’ station when you arrive.

Plazas

Plazas are located at 3:00, 4:30, 6:00, 7:30 and 9:00 on B & G streets. These are mini civic centers and public gathering spaces with art installations, encircled by creative and inviting theme camps and service camps. Emergency Services with first aid are located behind the plazas at 3:00 & C, 9:00 & C. Arctica ice sales are stationed at 3:00 & G, 6:15 & B, and 9:00 & G plazas.

Center Camp Plaza & The Canopy

The Center Camp Plaza and its surrounding neighborhood have transformed into Black Rock City’s Many Worlds’ Fair — a crossroads of past and future where imagination, innovation, and interactivity collide. Encircling the Plaza, a ring of camps offers hands-on exhibitions, eccentric innovations, and immersive journeys that invite curiosity, play, and awe. At its heart, The Canopy stretches across an acre of space, a shaded pavilion pulsing with life — Vaudevillian performances, surrealist salons, interactive art, futuristic visions, and whimsical games for time travelers of all ages. Sip exotic elixirs, craft artifacts of a world yet to come, or lose yourself in an emerging gallery of tomorrow’s visionaries. Open 24/7 throughout Burn Week, The Canopy is the perfect meeting ground for friends old and new — a space where discovery and delight shape the adventures ahead. But tread carefully — step too deep into its wonders, and you may find yourself immersed in a future that feels remarkably like Home… is it?

Open Camping

Open camping is located throughout many blocks between H to K Streets. Some of these blocks are entirely open for unplaced groups to camp in, while others contain both open camping and reserved camping.

Space for reserved, placed camps is delineated by blue survey flags. If you plan to camp in open camping, be sure to camp outside the blue-flagged zones or you may be asked to relocate your camp. Open campers should share the space with other open campers who arrive later and negotiate available space together. Open campers that arrive during Build Week are not permitted to land-grab to save large swaths of space for friends arriving later, and must provide their Setup Access Pass when requested.

If you need assistance finding open camping space on playa, stop by Placement Headquarters at Esplanade & 5:45. Check out the General BRC Camping Info page to learn more about how to camp in BRC.

Walk-in Camping

A large area past K Street between 2:00 and 5:00 is reserved for walk-in camping. Camp without cars! No vehicles or RVs are allowed. You must park your vehicle along K Street and carry your belongings to your chosen spot. The sheer difficulty of this exercise keeps Walk-In Camping sparsely populated, and your efforts will be rewarded with a sense of solitude unavailable in other parts of the city.

Placement & Reserved Camping

If you’d like to receive a reserved camping spot for your camp, you’ll need to learn the placement process and submit the Placed Camp Questionnaire before the deadlines in March/April. Theme camps are the main types of camps we reserve placement for, but we also hold space for camps for artists, mutant vehicles, volunteers, and staff. Check out the Placement Process & Timeline page to learn about how to be selected for Placement. You can find Placement Headquarters on playa at Esplanade & 5:45.

Porta-Potties

Banks of porta-potties can be found throughout the city on radial streets on the blocks between C & D and G & H. The exceptions to this are 3:00/9:00, which have banks on D, and 3:00/6:00/9:00 with banks between H & I. There are also banks on the open playa on either side of the Man along 3:00 and 9:00, and out by the Temple. There are some potty banks in deep playa as well. To help you find potties in your time of need, they are marked by solar-powered blue lights above the banks.

Box Office

The Box Office is open 24 hours a day during the event and is located just outside BRC’s Main Gate. Tickets held for Will Call pick-up can be retrieved any time of day or night, from Monday, August 18, 2025, at 12 pm (noon) PT to 12 pm (noon) on Saturday, August 30, 2025. If you are arriving before the event officially begins at 12:01 am Sunday, August 24, 2025, you will need a valid Set-up Access Pass (SAP).

Tickets requiring payment can be purchased with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay provided it is utilizing one of the card types previously listed (no cash!). All Gate lanes will get you access to the Box Office parking lot where you can retrieve your ticket.

You cannot walk or bike to the Main Gate Box Office from Black Rock City. It is only accessible by motor vehicle when entering the city via Gate Road. If you need to visit the Box Office during the event, go to the Airport Box Office located at the end of 5:00 street. The Airport Box Office is open from 8 am – 7 pm, and functions exactly the same as the main Gate Box Office.
